Process of ESI Registration
There are generally no compulsory registrations required to be taken by the Sole Proprietor. However, following voluntary registrations may be taken if the owner wishes to expand the business:

Requisite Payment is made as prescribed the concerned authorities.
After verification of the details by the authorities, license is issued by the authorities.

Pan Card
PAN Card along with the Certificate of Incorporation/Partnership Deed, for the company/LLP and Firm Applicant
Aadhar Card
Aadhar Card, for individual applicant
Latest Municipality Property Tax Payment Receipt
Latest Municipality Property Tax Payment Receipt, if the premises is owned
Lease Documents or Consent Letter from the owner
Lease Documents or Consent Letter from the owner, if the premises is rented
No Objection Certificate
No Objection Certificate,from Immediate Neighbour
Certified Layout Plan

- Who should get this registration?
Trade License is needed by every business establishment before starting manufacturing, exchange or storage of any activity/commodity. It needs to be received three months before the commencement of the activity.
- Why should you get this registration?
If the Trade License is not obtained by the business, the appropriate action may be taken by the concerned authorities. Further, the business owner may be liable for hefty penalties.

The applicants need to meet the eligibility criteria to obtain Trade License i.e., they should not be minors, they should not have any criminal records, businesses proposed to be carried on by them should be legally permissible.
Appeal maybe filed with the Standing Committee with a copy of the denied letter received.
The validity of a Trade License issued by Municipal Authority is one year and it needs to be renewed every year.
As per the law, unapproved trade is an offence. The authorities might seize or lock the trade business with or without prior intimation.
The appropriately approved manager or agents may be permitted where there are no complaints about the business. In the other cases, proprietor might need to visit in person.
The Department which issues this license is the License Department authorized by the municipal corporations. The license is issued in consultation with other specialized consultative departments like Fire Brigade, Health, Engineering, Estate and like others.
The Trade License may be renewed by paying fine along with the fees.
Copy of the Original Trade License, Previous Year Challans and Property Tax Paid receipt till date.
